Hyperhidrosis

Conveniently located to serve Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and surrounding areas

HyperhidrosisHyperhidrosis is a condition in which a person sweats excessively and unpredictably, even when the body is at rest and/or the air temperature is cool. Sweating helps regulate the body temperature, and in most cases it is completely natural, however when a person suffers from hyperhidrosis they may feel discomfort and embarrassment due to noticeable sweating and odor. Excess wetness from overactive sweat glands can also cause unsightly and irritating rashes or other skin conditions. This condition can result in low self-esteem, embarrassment, inability to wear certain clothing styles, and the inhibition of daily activities. Hyperhidrosis affects 2-3% of the population and there is no known cause for the condition, however it is shown to be genetic. Many people are not aware that they have this condition and that it is quite treatable. If you think you may have this condition, contact our office for treatment.

Your Hyperhidrosis treatment will be performed by the Diversions Wellness & Med Spa team located in Albuquerque, NM.

BOTOX® FOR HYPERHIDROSIS

If you suffer from excess sweating due to hyperhidrosis, there is a solution that may be right for you. BOTOX® injections are a minimally invasive FDA-approved method of treating hyperhidrosis. BOTOX® (botulinum toxin type A) is a neuromodulator that blocks nerve signals.

By injecting BOTOX® neurotoxin into the sweat glands it helps control the symptoms of severe underarm sweating when topical antiperspirants do not work well enough by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. This results in the elimination of excessive sweating in the treated area. This treatment can last up to 12 months.

BOTOX® hyperhidrosis treatment can be injected into areas like the underarms, feet, face, hands, and beneath the breasts.

BEFORE THE TREATMENT

Before undergoing BOTOX® treatment for hyperhidrosis, avoid shaving the treatment area for around three to four days. Aside from this, there will be no preparation steps necessary.

THE TREATMENT SESSION

BOTOX® for hyperhidrosis is a very simple and convenient process. A treatment session can take less than 10 minutes, depending on the number and size of the areas to be treated.

At the start of the process, ice or another anesthetic technique may be used to temporarily numb the region to any pain or discomfort. The injection sites will be marked in a grid pattern. Small amounts of BOTOX® will then be administered using a very fine needle. The exact number of injections required varies.

AFTER BOTOX® HYPERHIDROSIS TREATMENT

Once the treatment process is complete, patients do not need to take any time off from work or their everyday activities. It will be necessary to avoid physically taxing activities and sauna use for a short time.

Patients see results around two to four days following their BOTOX® treatment. Full results can be seen in two weeks or less.

Testimonials

“Diane was such a doll. She was very thorough, and explained everything so I had no questions to ask before or felt left in the dark. Her place is too cute and the atmosphere is so create and happy. The staff is happy and chat with you like everyone’s friends. They even called to check on me to make sure I was feeling alright the next day. They really care about your well-being and not just get them in and out type of place. I was referred her by another nurse and I’m happy I found Diversions. Sweet & quaint. Not some snooty, lying, tell you what you want to hear just to get your money and tell you need all sorts of things done that are truly unnecessary. Diane was so honest with me and she has gained my upmost respect.”
